Because of the sheer amount of material to be translated, Miskatonic University administrators have decided to release translations of the Cthulhu journal entries as they are done. "It will be years before we see the completion of this project," Dr. B.T. Coltrane explained. "We know other mythos scholars are excited by this find, and we want to share the discovery with them as soon as possible."

In addition to the translated entries themselves, notes by the project editors and translators are included. Shorter notes are interjected into the text of the journal entries, while longer annotations and commentary are featured as separate texts. Notes from the project staff about developments in the translation project are also available, to give the reader insight into the process.
