Report card day. No big surprises there. Zoth-Ommog got straight A's
again -- that kid is a real brain. And he's already got a plan for
when he graduates next year. Work at the company with me over the
summer, then go to Mu University for business. Zoth said he
eventually wants to get his MBA so he can really help me build
Ftaughan Inc. into a powerhouse company. With the head that kid has
on his shoulders, though, I don't think he needs an MBA. He's a real
chip off the old man's block, that one.
Ghatanothoa didn't do too bad, either. Four A's and three B's. He
does great at math and science, but couldn't care less about things
like English or history. Ghanta says they're just a waste of time.
Idh-Yaa and I tried to explain that it's important to be able to
communicate well with others, and to understand and learn from the
mistakes of history, but you know teenagers. You can't tell them
anything.
And then there's Ythogtha. I damn near shredded the fabric of time
[again1] when I saw his report card. If they made a grade
lower than F, Ythogtha would have gotten it. And, of course, his
teacher had scrawled the obligatory, "We should meet to discuss
Ythogtha's progress," on the back. Like we haven't suffered through
that little joy ride a dozen times already. I don't know what's up
with the kid. He's smart enough -- half the schemes he comes up with
prove that -- but when it comes to school, he's dumb as toast.
Idh-Yaa said it's Middle Child Syndrome. But Zoth is a middle child,
too -- between Cthylla and the other two boys -- and he does just
fine. Idh-Yaa just rolled her eyes and said it wasn't the same,
because Cthylla has been out of the house for most of the boys'
lives; it's more like Zoth is the oldest to them. Whatever. Long and
short of it is Idh-Yaa is calling Ythogtha's teacher to schedule
another meeting for all four of us -- her, me, Idh-Yaa, and Ythogtha.
Yeah, that's gonna be fun.
You know, speaking of Cthylla, I should give her a call. It's been
awhile since I talked her. Not since Christmas, I think.

Translator's Note
1 The word here could either be translated as "again" or,
more literally, as "all over again". Our research department could
find no historical evidence that the fabric of time has ever been
ripped, shredded, or torn by Cthulhu or any other entity, so we have
translated it as "again".
